ANTONIO PALOMO YAGÜE

ADM ANIMAL NUTRITION SPAIN – UCM
Born on October 23, 1962 into a family of farmers from Segovia (Spain) and father of two daughters that are also health care professionals. He studied Veterinary Medicine at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) in which he was distinguished with scholarships and a honorable mention. He also completed his knowledge in everything related to pig nutrition – health and production as well as in human nutrition and philosophy of science in other countries such as Belgium, Denmark, Holland, England and the United States (DVM – MS – PhD – MRCVS – DHN – MSP).

He has been working as a technical director of swine business units in four private production, feed and consulting companies since 1985 (NUTRIGANSE – INVE – ARAUZO – ADM), combining it with teaching as an associate professor of pig production medicine at UCM since 1989. Already in his childhood he helped his parents on the family farm, so his life has been and continues to be linked to the pig sector, for which he feels a great vocation and respect.

As scientific contributions, he has directed more than 40 doctoral theses, master´s and bachelor´s theses, as well as several CDTI (R&D) projects, while he has published more than 25 books and monographs, as well as more than 700 technical papers, more than 100 of high impact, while being part of the team of reviewers of several international scientific journals.

He has received numerous recognitions throughout all these years, highlighting having been named Illustrious Veterinarian by the College of Veterinarians of his hometown, Prize of the Royal Academy of Veterinary Sciences of Spain, as well as honoree - awarded by his colleagues from the National Association of Scientific Pig (ANAPORC) and the Association of Iberian Pig Veterinarians (ANVEPI).
